Kathmandu, July 20
Speaker Onsari Gharti met Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging a hunger strike at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hopsital to press for reforms in the medical sector, on Tuesday.
Speaker Gharti took time off from her political schedule to call on Dr KC. She promised to draw the attention of political parties and the Parliament towards Dr KC’s demands. Other political leaders have hardly bothered to visit Dr KC and take stock of his health, let alone pledge to address his concerns.
Speaker met Dr KC amid reports that his health is deteriorating. She suggested Dr KC to put his strike on hold in view of his fragile health.
Dr KC has staged several rounds of hunger strike in a bid to press for reforms in the medical sector. Both political parties and governments have not bothered to address his concerns so far, pressing him to go for hunger strike time and again.
