Kathmandu, July 21
Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar called leaders of three major political parties for a meeting on Thursday morning, few hours before Parliament is to discuss a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Oli’s government.
A Parliament Secretariat official told Onlinekhabar the meeting was convened as part of last ditch efforts to forge an agreement among the political parties on the fate of the Oli government, which has been reduced to minority following the Maoists’ decision to pull out of the ruling coalition.
According to a Parliament source, Speaker Gharti is likely to go ahead with the pre-announced House business if leaders fail to reach an understanding on how the no-confidence motion is to be dealt with.
