Kathmandu, July 24
Prime Minister KP Oli’s Cabinet has recommended President Bidhya Devi Bhandari to remove constitutional hurdles to forming a new government.
The move comes a few minutes before Prime Minister Oli is set to face a motion of no-confidence in Parliament. Oli is expected to lose the vote, and step down.
According to a minister, the Cabinet has recommended that the President suspend Article 298 of the Constitution to pave the way for the election of a new Prime Minister. The government decided to make the recommendation as amending the constitution was not a viable option.
