Kathmandu, July 18
The CPN-Maoist Centre on Monday entrusted party Chair Prachanda with the responsibility of picking 60 out of 77 members in the party’s politburo committee. The party has decided to appoint 60 members without delay.
Party Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal informed about this decision. At a meeting of party headquarters held on Sunday, Prachanda apologised for initiating the process for replacing the KP Sharma Oli-led government without discussing the matter with party leaders.
Maoist leaders like Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Shakti Basnet and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi had criticised Prachanda for taking a unilateral move instead of discussing the matter with party leaders. Prachanda also pledged to take the party rank and file into confidence before making decisions.
The apology has put the debate about Prachanda’s move to rest, it is learnt. At Sunday’s meeting, party leaders decided to support Prachanda’s move against the Oli government unitedly.
