Thai, Bolivian nationals held for bid to smuggle 3.54 kg of cocaine

The Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested two foreign nationals, who were trying to smuggle 3.54 kg of cocaine worth Rs 60 million in the international market.

The bureau identified the arrestees as Thai national Waranya Kaewpikul (32) and Bolivian national Rossy Gueddy Toledo Vallejos (29).

On Tuesday (August 9), a team from the bureau got hold of the Thai national at Tribhuvan International Airport with 3.54 kg of cocaine while she was about to board a Malaysian Airlines flight bound for Kwala Lumpur. Her destination was Thailand.

A police probe has revealed that Vallejos had handed over the consignment to the Thai national.

The probe has found Waranya came to Nepal on August 5 to smuggle cocaine.

As per the probe, Remmy, a Nigerian national, had sent her to Nepal, promising her 70,000 for the smuggling assignment.

As per the probe, Vallejos had smuggled the drug contained in a suitcase from Bolivia to Kathmandu via Brazil, Ethiopia and New Delhi as she was offered $3,000. She had arrived with the consignment to Kathmandu on August 3.

Police arrested Rossy from Naxal on Wednesday.
