Yes to unity, but not under your terms: Pashupati Sumsher to Kamal Thapa

Pashupati-Shamser

Kathmandu, August 11

A war of words has started between Pashupati Sumsher Rana and Kamal Thapa following their botched attempt to reconcile differences to unite factions of the erstwhile RPP.

RPP leader Pashupati Sumsher organised a press conference in the capital today to get back at Thapa, who had alleged that Rana backed out of the unity bid following his meeting with Indian ambassador Rae.

“I have not even met the ambassador. It is a matter of shame that someone who has been at the negotiating table makes such remarks,” Rana said alluding to Thapa’s comments.

Rana said unity among the former RPP leaders was necessary, but that could not happen with one party dictating the terms.

Rana’s RPP and Thapa’s RPP-N were close to reaching a deal on party unification, but a last minute row over who gets to lead the party spelled an end to the whole operation.
