Kathmandu, October 24
Police on Monday arrested 13 members of a self-styled armed outfit, Mangolbasi Rastriya Force, with arms on Monday. Police made the arrestees, including outfit chief Upendra Gharti Magar, public by organising a press conference in Kathmandu.
The arrestees include Tembi Sherpa of Ramechhap, who was behind the bomb blast outside Nepal Oil Corporation in Kathmandu on February 27, 2012. Three people had died in the blast.
Police informed that they seized two pistols, two revolvers, 12 bullets and ammunition from the arrestees.
Gharti Magar of Jang-2, Rukum, and other members of his underground outfit had taken military training in Jangkhar Stream, Rukum, according to police. A former PLA fighter, Bimal BK, provided military training, a police probe has revealed.
DIG Bam Bahadur Bhandari said this group had made plans to loot banks and financial institutes and attack police offices.
Bhandari said police arrested the outfit members from Bhaktapur and Sindhupalchok on Wednesday. The outfit has formed a people’s court in Rukum and appointed regional commanders, according to police.
