Bharatpur, March 6
The UCPN-Maoist-affiliated youth organisation, Young Communist League Nepal, has seized 11,000 litres of smuggled diesel and handed it over to police.
YCL Nepal’s Chitwan chapter seized the smuggled diesel kept in 46 drums from a truck numbered Na 4 Kha 5594 at Ramnagar, Chitwan, and handed it over to police, YCL Chitwan in-charge Ishwor Sapkota ‘Suman’ told Onlinekhabar.
We followed the smugglers after information that they were smuggling diesel into Chitwan from Nawalparasi in cycles, Suman said, adding: At checkposts in Bardaghat and Kawasoti, the truck driver had not registered the truck’s entry. We thought it was involved in illegal business, so we intercepted the truck at Ramnagar. Upon inquiry, we found that the truck was used in diesel smuggling.
“The vehicle-owner failed to produce legal documents. He left for somewhere, with a pledge to return with documents. He has gone out of contact,” Suman said.
Chitwan district police office has taken the truck driver and helper under control.
