Dhunche, March 23
Strong winds blowing in Dhunche, Rasuwa district, and surround areas since early morning have caused extensive damage to dozens of huts belonging to earthquake victims, Babu Lal Tamang, chief of civil society (Dhunce), said.
With their temporary shelters gone, locals have begun searching for places where they can take shelter. Abadhesh Bista, chief district officer of Rasuwa, said the winds have affected thousands of people by destroying or causing damage to tents and huts. We have appealed local people to stay in safe places, he said.
Meanwhile, a wildfire has been raging in Haku VDC, putting thousands of hectares of forest land in peril as high winds continue to fan the fire. Details of the damage are yet to arrive.
