Kathmandu, March 24
A little known organisation, Shahi Youth Force Nepal, has announced a movement for the restoration of monarchy in Nepal.
At a face-to-face organised at the Reporters’ Club on Tuesday, the force unveiled a plan to ‘restore the monarchy’ by May 29. As part of its movement, the force is organising a public gathering against the republic and for the restoration of the monarchy. At 3 pm, it plans to organise a corner meeting at Pipal Bot, New Road.
At the programme, Pashupati Khadka, president of the force, said there’s a need to do away with republicanism as it is something that foreign forces forced upon Nepal. We are ready to raise weapons for the restoration of the monarchy if the need arises, he said.
Khadka said: The parliamentary system was (considered) dead, but it got resurrected. The monarchy has fainted or is in medically induced sleep. For its resurrection, we are even ready to lay our lives.”
