Kathmandu, March 31
Press Council Nepal, the press regulatory body, is preparing to take action against ABC Television for interviewing and telecasting the interview of CK Raut, who has been voicing his opinion in favour of splitting the country by creating a separate Madhesh state.
Borna Bahadur Karki, chair of the PCN, told Onlinekhabar they have called an emergency meeting to discuss action to be taken against the TV channel that interviewed Raut on Wednesday.
Karki said PCN will immediately send a written warning to the channel, adding they will hold discussions to decide action to be taken against the channel.
In his Facebook post, Dipesh Pun, son of Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun, has demanded action against the TV station.
Meanwhile, Rishi Dhamala’s effort to bring Raut to Reporters’ Club Nepal for a face-to-face has failed. The attempt failed after PCN intervened. Karki told Onlinekhabar he phoned Dhamala when he came to know about the journalist’s plan and cautioned him not to interview Raut. Dhamala postponed the programme after the warning.
