Mag 6.9 quake strikes Indo-Myanmar border, tremors felt in Kathmandu

A magnitude 6.9 quake struck near the Indo-Myanmar border at around 7:50 pm Nepal Time, according to the US Geological Survey.

Initial reports said the quake was of magnitude 7.1. However, the USGS later revised it to 6.9 on the Richter.

According the US agency, the quake took place at a depth of 134 km.

‘Light’ tremors were felt in Kathmandu, and other parts of eastern Nepal.

According to reports coming in tremors were also felt in north India.
