Kathmandu, May 10
World football governing body FIFA has directed Nepal’s football association to immediately reinstate four officials, including three vice-presidents, the FA recently sacked.
In a letter to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), FIFA has also called for an election for the executive committee, at the earliest.
ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar told Onlinekhabar that FIFA’s move was in response to a report submitted by the Asian Football Confederation on the state of the game in Nepal.
According to the letter, ANFA has been given a May 23 deadline to reinstate vice-presidents Karma Tsering Sherpa, Bijaya Narayan Manandhar and Kishore Rai and member Pankaj Bikram Nembang.
The four officials were sacked after they failed to submit a convincing clarification on why they had remained absent in three consecutive board meetings in September 2015.
Tuladhar said that reinstating the officials at such a short notice would be difficult as the board members need to be given at least 14 days’ notification before a meeting can take place. In addition to this, ANFA’s acting president Narendra Shrestha and general secretary Dhirendra Pradhan have already left for Mexico to attend the FIFA’s 66th Congress.
