Government publishes cabinet decisions

Kathmandu, February 25

The Nepal government has made public the decisions taken during Monday’s Cabinet meeting. Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, announced the decisions.

One of the key decisions was to accept a concessional loan of approximately Rs 20 billion (USD 150 million) from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) under the third phase of the Bridge Improvement and Maintenance Program. The Cabinet decided to form a negotiation team to finalise the financial agreement and program documents, granting the team full authority to negotiate with the World Bank.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved promotions within the Nepal Army, including the promotion of one officer to the rank of Major General and another to the rank of Brigadier General. The government also decided to extend the tenure of one Major General, two Brigadier Generals, and one Lieutenant General, among other 15 key decisions taken during the meeting.
