Kathmandu, August 18
Nain Singh Mahar, a candidate in the fray for the position of NSU president, is taking an early lead, as votes counted so far suggest.
Kundan Kafle is leading the race for general secretary of the Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Students’ Union.
The vote counting is underway in the NC party office in Sanepa.
As of now, Mahar has polled 636 votes, while fellow contender Manoj Mani Acharya has got 595 votes, the Election Committee informed.
In the race for general secretary, Kafle is leading with 777 votes, followed by Saroj Thapa (691), Dipak Bhattarai (624) and Himal Shrestha (517).
