Kathmandu, April 20
The government on Thursday decided to grant Rs 1 million as an ex-gratia to the family of Ajit Mijar, who was reportedly murdered for doing an intercaste marriage last year.
A Cabinet meeting held today made the decision.
The youth from Panchkhal of Kavre was found dead after five days of his wedding in July last year.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to launch a probe into the case and book the guilty.
A committee under the leadership of Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Shreepaili had recommended the Cabinet to provide the support to the family, according to Minister for Energy Janardan Sharma.
Likewise, the children of the family would be provided with free education.
Meanwhile, the government decided to present itself as a guarantor for the agreement to be signed in order to take a loan from the Employees Provident Fund for the Nepal Airlines Corporation.
