Chitwan, May 9
A ward member candidate for May 14 local level elections has died after being struck by a bolt of lightning in Kalika Municipality of Chitwan district on Tuesday.
Siphal Praja had fielded his candidacy for the position in Kalika-11 from the CPN-Maoist Centre party.
He was hit by the thunderbolt while asleep at around 3 am today and died on the way to a hospital, according to the District Police Office.
Chief Returning Officer Kavi Prasad Neupane said now the Maoist party could field another candidate in Praja’s place.
Meanwhile, details of the loss in calamity are yet to be reported.
