Six road accidents in Chitwan within 24 hours: One dead, 11 injured

Chitwan witnessed six separate road accidents within the past 24 hours, resulting in one fatality and 11 injuries, according to data provided by the Bagmati Province Police Office.

On Tuesday, a motorcycle (Ba.Pr.03-002 P 5503) traveling from Bachhauli to Jhuvani met with an accident on an inner road section of Chitwan. The rider, 28-year-old Alok Mahato from Chitwan Municipality-5, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Old Medical College, Bharatpur, where doctors declared him dead at around 11:30 PM.

In another incident, a tractor (Na 5 T 7307) collided with a motorcycle (Na 25 P 7131) at Bhatt Chowk while heading towards Teklal Chowk. The accident left 46-year-old Ramhari Thapa of Kalika Municipality-7 injured. He is currently receiving treatment at Alive Hospital. The tractor driver, 25-year-old Ishwar Pariyar from Ratnanagar-15, has been taken into custody.

Additionally, a scooter (Na 25 P 8309) collided with a bicycle in Rampur at around 7 PM on Tuesday, injuring five people. The accident involved 23-year-old Bhim Prasad Darai, his wife, and their five-year-old son, who were on the bicycle, as well as the scooter rider, 40-year-old Narendra Malla of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-5. Malla’s six-year-old son, who was seated behind him, sustained minor injuries.

Similarly, in another accident, 50-year-old Mankumari Gautam was injured after being hit by a motorcycle (Na 35 P 5424) traveling from Dharmachowk to Tiger Chowk. The motorcycle rider, 35-year-old Arjun Rimal from Narayanpur, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-5, also sustained minor injuries.

Another incident in Chitwan involved a motorcycle (Na 45 P 8105) hitting a bicycle, injuring the cyclist, 22-year-old Sabir Miya from Bara, who currently resides in Bharatpur-9. The motorcycle rider, 48-year-old Kamal Pandit of Bharatpur-7, was also injured.

In yet another accident, a scooter (Ba.Pr.06-001 P 2516) crashed into a parked car (Ba 16 Ch 8077) in Chitwan, injuring a 70-year-old passenger, Sita Lamichhane of Bharatpur-6, Indrapuri. She sustained minor injuries, according to police reports.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution as road accidents continue to rise in the region.
