Kailali, June 18
A central member of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal has been arrested for obstructing candidacy nominations for the second phase of local level elections in Kailari Rural Municipality of Kailali district.
Phonilal Chaudhary was arrested for padlocking and vandalising the Office of Chief Returning Officer, according to SP Arjun Chand, Chief of the District Police Office.
Along with him, district vice-chairperson of the party, Sarita Chaudhary, has also been arrested.
They have been kept at the custody of DPO.
Meanwhile, the nominations were filed peacefully after police opened the padlock following the arrest.
