The Election Commission says it has completed counting votes under the proportional representation election system.
The Commission, however, says it will take few more days to decide which party gets exactly how many seats in the House of Representatives.
However, applying the Sainte-Laguë method, which the Commission will use, it can be calculated that the CPN-UML, which will be the largest party in House, will get 41 seats, closely followed by Nepali Congress. The Congress will have 40 seats. The CPN-Maoist Centre will get 17 seats.
In total nine million and 544,741 valid votes, the UML got three million and 173,494 votes. The Congress got three million and 128,389 votes.
The parties which have received at least three per cent of valid votes will get seats in Parliament. Therefore, there will be only five parties: UML, Congress, Maoist Centre, Rastirya Janata Party Nepal and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Bibeksheel Sajha Party could not meet the three per cent threshold. Hence, they will not be represent in the House. The RPP, however, has a lawmaker from the first-past-the-past polls.
Naya Shakti Party, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Rastriya Janamorcha also have one lawmaker each from the FPTP polls.
