NRN’s to invest Rs 400 million on Panchase cable car

A group of NRN’s have pledged to invest over Rs 400 million for the development of Panchase area as a tourism destination. The fund will initially be used to construct a cable car line.

The cable car is a Gandaki Province Pride Project aimed at boosting tourism in areas around Pokhara. The cable car is being constructed at Ghantichhina of Pokhara-23. Panchase is located at an altitude of 2,517 m above sea level and it is developing into a popular touristic destination in the province.

Panchase Tours and Travel Company Chairman, Ram Chandra Sharma says that the NRN’s are interested in investing in the project as it would improve tourism in the area as this was Gandaki Province’s biggest project.

According to Sharma, Prabat residents living in Australia have pledged over Rs 200 million in investment and those from the United Kingdom and Europe have pledged around Rs 100 million. Sharma shares that they have also received support from Nepalis in Qatar.

NRNA President Bhaban Bhatta also said that the project was commendable and said his organisation will help complete the project. The project comes with a price tag of Rs 10 billion.
