Two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party–Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss pending issues of the party unification.
The then CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre announced the merger of two parties to form the NCP in May 2018, many issues are yet to be settled. A central committee meeting of the party held recently had directed the party leadership to resolve the issues within 15 days.
The leaders had not met after the meeting owing to Oli’s health problems.
A source privy to the meeting says the two leaders also discussed other contemporary political issues such as the debate within the party about the Millennium Challenge Corporation grant offered by the United States and the appointment of the new Nepal Police chief.
