The ruling Nepal Communist Party’s chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has denied forging an agreement with another chairman of the party, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Earlier on Saturday night, it was reported that Oli convinced Dahal on his proposal to hold the next convention of the party by December so that he would not challenge Oli’s leadership as the PM and the chair by then. As per the reports, the two chairpersons were on one side of the party equation.
However, Dahal met other leaders of the party including senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal, who were demanding Oli’s resignation from both the positions, at his residence in Khumaltar of Lalitpur on Sunday morning and clarified that no agreement was made with Oli and he was adamant about Oli’s resignation.
“I said we could discuss it [the proposal to hold convention by December], but we did not make any agreement,” a standing committee member who met Dahal today quotes the former PM, “I do not make any compromise going beyond your suggestions and sentiments.”
Meanwhile, Dahal claimed he was deceived into going to the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, along with Oli after the secretariat meeting yesterday as the party’s general secretary Bishnu Paudel said Oli wanted to meet him, but Oli said the president wanted both of them to meet her.
