Anirudra Prasad Singh, a former chief justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, has died on Tuesday. He was 100.
Doctors attending to him say he died of pneumonia at his own residence in Battisputali of Kathmandu at around 7:30 pm yesterday.
Singh had served as the chief justice of the apex court from May 21, 1956, to June 29, 1959. He is credited for beginning the publication of Nepal Kanun Patrika, a collection of significant court verdicts.
Then, he also led the Public Service Commission and held some ministerial positions in the Panchayat era.
He is also the first chief of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
