NCP secretariat meeting postponed indefinitely

A meeting of Nepal Communist Party secretariat, in Kathmandu, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

Kathmandu, October 4

The meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s secretariat has been postponed indefinitely.

The meeting originally called for Saturday was postponed for Sunday. However, it could not take place today also as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s advisors tested positive for coronavirus. Oli, who was in contact with his advisors until a few days ago, is also a chairman of the party.

It is not certain when the next meeting will take place.

The meeting was summoned to discuss recent political appointments.

As the government on Thursday appointed Shanker Das Bairagi as the chief secretary and nominated Yuba Raj Khatiwada and Lok Darshan Regmi for Nepal’s ambassadors to the United States and the United Kingdom respectively, some NCP leaders are said to be not satisfied with the decisions as Prime Minister Oli did not consult the party about them.
