Hours after calling a meeting of the Constitutional Council, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has postponed the meeting at the eleventh hour.
It has been learned that Oli put the meeting on hold as his party’s executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal objected to the decision.

Without revoking ordinance, Oli calls another Constitutional Council meet
Kathmandu, December 17
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a meeting of the Constitutional Council, which he chairs, for Thursday evening.
The call has baffled many as he had agreed to withdraw the ordinance that had amended the Constitutional Council Act after the majority of leaders in his party protested it.
The government has not revoked the controversial ordinance yet officially, hence many fear if Oli was going to conduct the meeting as per the ordinance, again angering the rival faction in the party.
A source close to the main opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, an ex-officio member of the council, the body formed to nominate officials of constitutional commissions, says Deuba has been invited for the meeting for 5 pm today.
However, Deuba will not attend the meeting as the party has decided not to attend the meeting unless the ordinance is withdrawn.
It is not sure if Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana will join the meeting as the Supreme Court has also received some writ petitions against the ordinance, leaving him in a morally-conflicting zone.
