Kathmandu, March 3

The Dahal-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party has taken action against Subas Chandra Nembang and six other leaders of the party who are active in defence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Following Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives, the party has been virtually divided. As the Supreme Court rejected the decision and reinstated House, the Dahal-Nepal faction is hoping to topple the government as soon as possible, but the Election Commission’s indecisiveness about the split is barring it.

In this context, the party held its central committee meeting on Wednesday and decided to remove former speaker Subas Chandra Nembang from the position of the parliamentary party deputy leader in the House of Representatives.

Likewise, Mahesh Basnet, Bishal Bhattarai, Shanta Chaudhary, Surya Thapa, Prabhu Sah, and Karna Bahadur Thapa have been suspended from the party, according to leader Barsha Man Pun.

Pun says the action was taken as they acted against the party interest.
