Kathmandu, March 18
The Nepal Electricity Authority has signed a contract with an Indian company to launch a project in its bid to improve the electricity transmission and distribution system in Province 2.
Officials of the authority and Tata Projects Limited, India, signed the contract on Wednesday to execute the authority’s Province 2 Rural Electrification Project.
The authority had called for tenders to hand over the contract and the company had submitted the bid quoting the lowest price of Rs 4 billion.
It is estimated that the project will be complete in the next 2.5 years (30 months). The authority and the company plan to execute the plan by dividing the project into five lots.
