NEA to continue halt electricity supply to enterprises if they fail to pay dues owed

electricity supply

Kathmandu, December 28

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has said it will continue to halt the electricity supply of factories and enterprises if they do not pay dues owed.

Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of NEA, in a press conference held to provide information on the dedicated feeders and trunk lines dispute, said the Authority was not going to budge.

Ghising said 61 enterprises owe over Rs 22 billion to the Authority for using dedicated feeders and trunk lines.

So far, NEA has cut down the electricity of nine factories that Ghising says owe them over Rs 12 billion.

NEA has also claimed that 239 factories and private organisations were provided dedicated feeders and trunk lines at a time when the general public had to endure 18 hours of load shedding.

Ghising says only one enterprise has paid the NEA for using the lines so far.
