Bardiya tiger kills national park employee

Kathmandu, April 5

A worker of the Bardiya National Park has succumbed to a tiger attack in the national park on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Police Ram Tharu, 31, a staffer at the elephant shed of the park, a permanent resident of Thakurbaba municipality-9. He was cutting grass to feed the elephants deployed in the ongoing national rhino census.

Tharu was attacked at around 5 pm yesterday and his body was found after a few hours, according to the park’s assistant conservation officer Asim Thapa.

Meanwhile, the park officials have taken a tiger under control suspecting it killed Tharu.

Of late, the number of tiger attacks is increasing in the national park.
