The Pashupatinath temple that was closed for four and a half months for devotees citing the Covid-19 pandemic has been made open for devotees from Friday morning.
After the second wave of Covid-19, the main temple of Pashupatinath had been closed since April 23.
With the news of the reopening, scores of devotees thronged the temple to pay homage from early morning today.
The temple will remain open only till 1:00 in the afternoon as the risk of Covid-19 is not fully over though the infection rate has decreased, the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Administrative Officer Rewati Raman Adhikari says.
Devotees who want to visit the Pashupatinath temple premises must wear a face mask. Only 25 devotees will be allowed to enter the premises at a time.
As the temple was closed for more than four months, the trust on Thursday conducted Kshamapuja, a special worship begging forgiveness.
Last year, the Pashupatinath temple was closed for nine months in the first wave of the pandemic in Nepal.
