Kathmandu, January 31
The government has launched fresh efforts to list Tilaurakot that had the palace of Lord Buddha’s father as per mythology, as a World Heritage site.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation says a new round of efforts are being made to list Tilaurakot in Kapilvastu of the Lumbini region as a new World Heritage site as per its announcement last fiscal year.
The government has recently prepared a map of the area and it is preparing to announce it as a preserved area, according to the ministry. The ministry is preparing to table a proposal at a cabinet meeting for this.
Previously, the government had also announced to make efforts to list Ramgram of Kapilvastu and the Janaki temple of Dhanusha also. However, the announcement is yet to be implemented.
