Kathmandu, July 15
Nepal and China have agreed to resume trade activities via the Rasuwagadhi border point that has been halted for months.
Likewise, they have also agreed to open the Hilsa border for trade activities.
The agreements were made during a consultation meeting on border affairs held virtually on Thursday afternoon.
Lok Bahadur Thapa, the head of the North East Asia Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, and Hong Liang, the director general of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, led their respective delegations to the meeting.
Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says, “The meeting took stock of the overall state of Nepal-China relations, and held a discussion on various matters relating to boundary and border management between the two countries.”
“Underscoring the importance of joint inspection of the Nepal-China boundary, the two sides agreed to initiate the process for activating the existing bilateral mechanism through mutual consultation.”
