Kathmandu, March 2
The government has decided to open key government offices that remain busy almost every day on several public holidays except for Saturdays.
Officials say the government made the decision about opening the offices on holidays also as it could not shorten the public holiday list as different communities demanded holidays on different occasions, and it could not discriminate between them.
Hence, the government adopted a middle-path approach to open the busiest offices on some public holidays also, informs Mahadev Pantha, the spokesperson at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
So, which offices will open? On which holidays?
Here is the list:
Offices
- District administration offices
- Department of Immigration
- Department of Consular Services
- Inland Revenue Department and its subordinate offices
- Department of Customs and its subordinate offices
- Office of the Company Registrar
- Department of Foreign Employment
- Transport management offices
- Government hospitals
- Water supply offices
- Electricity offices
- Telecommunications offices

- Buddha Jayanti/Ubhauli
- Janai Purnima
- Krishna Janmashtami
- Ghatasthapana
- Udhauli
- Christmas
- Tamu Lhosar
