Muslims in Nepal celebrate Eid ul-Fitr with prayers and festivities (Photos)

Kathmandu, March 31

The Muslim community in Nepal is celebrating Eid ul-Fitr today, marking the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Muslims gathered at mosques across the country for special prayers, embracing the spirit of unity and gratitude. Families and friends exchanged greetings, shared festive meals, and offered charity to the less fortunate.

Eid ul-Fitr, one of the most significant Islamic festivals, follows a month of dawn-to-dusk fasting, emphasizing self-discipline, empathy, and spiritual devotion. Scholars highlight that the festival represents renewal and generosity, with many observing the tradition of giving “Zakat al-Fitr,” a mandatory donation to those in need.

To honour the occasion, the government has declared a public holiday, allowing communities to celebrate together.
