The Chief Minister of Gandaki resigned

Surendraraj

Kathmandu, April 3

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey has resigned on Wednesday. Pandey submitted his resignation to the Chief of Gandaki Province, Dilli Raj Bhatta.

After the Maoists withdrew their support on March 6, Chief Minister Pandey, who was in the minority, had to undergo a vote of confidence in Parliament by April 4.

However, Pandey has devised a strategy to pave the way by resigning and subsequently reemerging as the Chief Minister representing a major party, seeing no prospects of gaining trust otherwise.

Pandey resigned after the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, which held decisive influence in Gandaki, announced that it would not immediately support any party engaging in power-centred activities.
