Two police officers have been awarded for their heroic efforts in rescuing mules trapped on a suspension bridge over the Karnali River.

The police headquarters and the Karnali Province Police Office have recognised and awarded the two officers separately for their dedication during the rescue operation.

The awardees are Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramsingh Pharl and Constable Gangaram Chaudhary, both from the Kalekanda Area Police Office in Achham. According to DIG Ravindra KC of Karnali Province, they were rewarded with a monetary prize and a commendation for their service records.

Additionally, the police headquarters also honoured the officers for their brave actions during the rescue.

On June 9, thirteen mules got stranded midway when a rope of the suspension bridge over the Karnali River at Chiltada in Panchdeval Municipality-9, Achham, snapped. Out of the rescued mules, two died, but 11 survived.

This suspension bridge connects the Far-Western and Karnali provinces. It specifically links Panchdeval Binayak Municipality-9 in Achham with Aathbis Municipality-4 in Dailekh.
