Defending champions Argentina have become the first team to reach the knockout stage of Copa America 2024.
Argentina secured their quarterfinal spot by defeating Chile 1-0 in Wednesday’s match, thanks to a decisive goal from Lautaro Martinez.
With back-to-back wins in Group A, Argentina has accumulated six points, ensuring their place in the knockout stage with a game to spare.
The match, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, saw Lautaro Martinez score the winning goal in the 88th minute.
Previously, Argentina had defeated Canada in their opening game.
Argentina will play their final group match against Peru. In another Group A match, Canada secured their first victory by defeating Peru.
Canada is currently in second place in the group with three points. Both Chile and Peru have one point each.
