Nepal secures 2 golds and 1 bronze at World Combat Martial Arts Championship

Nepali athletes secured a total of 3 medals—2 gold and 1 bronze—at the ICO World Combat Martial Arts Championship held between October 11-13 in Frankfurt, Germany.

In the tournament held in Frankfurt, Germany, Nirajan Muktan claimed two gold medals, while Ezekiel Pariyar earned a bronze, according to Bhupendra Gurung, the General Secretary of the Nepal Uma Kung Fu Association.

Nirajan won his first gold in the men’s under-60 kg kickboxing category by defeating an athlete from England in the final. Prior to that, he had triumphed over competitors from France, Germany, and Ukraine.

His second gold came in the Chinese forms event (Nan Quan), where he bested athletes from Germany, Ukraine, Cyprus, England, and Scotland.

Ezekiel secured the bronze in the men’s 70–75 kg kickboxing category, after losing to a German athlete in the semifinals. In earlier rounds, Ezekiel, who also serves as a coach at Vibe Boxing Club, had defeated athletes from England and Scotland.

The championship, organised by the International Combat Organization (ICO) in Germany, saw the participation of 705 athletes from 30 countries, as reported by Gurung, who is also the President of the Indigenous Sports Association Nepal.
