Nepal women suffer 10-wicket defeat against Netherlands in T20I series

Nepal faced their fifth consecutive defeat in the ongoing Women’s T20I Tri-Series in Kathmandu, which features Nepal, the Netherlands, and Thailand.

In their latest match, Nepal suffered a crushing 10-wicket loss to the Netherlands. Chasing a target of 146 runs, the Netherlands reached the target comfortably without losing a single wicket and with balls to spare.

Dutch opener Sterre Kalis played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 98 runs off 11 fours and 2 sixes. She was well supported by Phoebe Molkenboer, who remained not out on 48.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Nepal posted a total of 145/4 in their 20 overs. Pooja Mahato starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten half-century. She made 62 runs off 51 balls, including five fours, registering the highest individual score of the series.

Captain Indu Barma contributed 39 runs, while Rubina Chhetri added 20. For the Netherlands, Iris Willing claimed two wickets, while Caroline de Lange and Heather Siegers took one wicket each.

Pooja Mahato, who batted at No. 4, became the first Nepali batter to score a half-century in the series. This was her second T20I half-century, with her first coming against the Maldives in 2024.
