Gaushala Dharmashala dispute: Tourism Minister calls PADT meeting

Kathmandu, October 17

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has called a meeting of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) as an initiative to resolve the dispute related to the operation of Gaushala Dharmashala.

Similarly, the Minister has also directed the PADT not to conduct any activities regarding Dharmashala. Sending a letter to the Trust on October 16 citing a disturbance in peace and security at the Dharmashala, Minister Pandey, also the Chairperson of the PADT, asked it to stop the activities to vacate the Gaushala Dharmashala.

PADT Spokesperson Rewati Raman Adhikari said that Minister Pandey called the meeting at the Ministry for October 20. The dispute surfaced after PADT announced to operation of the Gaushala Dharmashala in the collaboration of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The Marwadi Sewa Samiti, which had been operating the Gaushala Dharmashala, has been launching protests against the decision of PADT.
