Passenger plane with 67 onboard crashes in Kazakhstan

Kathmandu, December 25

A passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan’s Aktau city on Wednesday, with initial reports indicating casualties, according to local authorities.

The plane was carrying 67 passengers at the time of the crash. Rescue teams are currently attempting to reach the crash site, confirmed Kazakhstan’s Emergency Minister.

Reuters, citing a Russian news agency, reported that the aircraft belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines. The flight was en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya region but had its route altered due to heavy fog.

Azerbaijan Airlines has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
