Plane crash in South Korea claims 179 lives, 2 survivors rescued

A plane crash in South Korea this morning claimed the lives of 179 people, according to officials.

Out of the 181 individuals on board, two were rescued alive—a crew member and a passenger. Firefighters and rescue teams managed to pull them from the wreckage immediately after the crash. Both survivors are currently receiving treatment at Mokpo Hospital.

Yonhap News Agency, citing officials, reported that no other survivors were found.

The Jeju Air flight from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed during landing at Muan International Airport in South Korea. The aircraft was carrying 181 people, including six crew members. Among the passengers, two were Thai nationals, while the rest were South Korean.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest the plane skidded off the runway and collided with a barrier, sparking a fire.

The incident occurred at Muan International Airport, located in Muan County, Jeolla Province, approximately 288 kilometers southwest of the capital, Seoul.
