Kathmandu, March 30
Former King Gyanendra Shah has refused to accept a fine notice from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), which sought payment for damages caused during a recent protest.
The municipality had imposed a fine of Rs 793,000 for property damage and littering during a demonstration in Tinkune last Friday, allegedly instigated by the former king.
A municipal team visited Nirmal Niwas to deliver the notice, but KMC police chief Rajunath Pandey stated that the team was turned away. “He refused to accept the notice, so we will proceed with legal measures,” Pandey said.
