Itahari’s Central Plaza fire under control

Kathmandu, March 26

A fire that broke out at the commercial building Central Plaza in Itahari, Sunsari, has been brought under control. According to Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, the Chief District Officer of Sunsari, the fire was fully controlled just recently.

The fire had started around 9:30 AM and was brought under control after approximately six and a half hours.

To manage the fire, a team consisting of 12 fire trucks, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force was deployed.

“The cause of the fire has not been determined yet,” said Chief District Officer Mishra. “We have checked all the rooms in the plaza, and no fire has been found elsewhere.” The fire originated on the fourth floor of the plaza.

A total of 11 people trapped on the seventh floor of the plaza were rescued by helicopter. The rescued individuals included three women and eight men.

One of the rescued individuals sustained minor injuries, but after receiving basic treatment, they were discharged from the hospital.

Seven security personnel who participated in the rescue operation sustained minor injuries. Mishra confirmed that five were from the Nepal Police, one from the Armed Police Force, and one from the Nepali Army.
