Kathmandu, March 25
The Mohan Baidhya-led CPN (Revolutionary-Maoist) is holding its central committee meeting on Friday. The meeting will discuss the possibility of unification with the Prachanda-led UCPN-Maoist.
Pampha Bhusal, spokesperson for the Baidhya-led party, said the meeting, scheduled to take place at the party’s state committee office in Kupandole, will focus on finalising issues related to unification of the two Maoist parties.
At the start of the meeting, party President Mohan Baidhya will inform the participants about the progress in unity efforts. Bhusal said central members will hold discussions and sort out the issue of unification.
Prachanda and Baidhya have held frequent discussions on party unification. There are talks that party President Baidhya and former general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ will present separate proposals at the meeting. But a source said both the leaders are in favour of uniting with the UCPN-Maoist.
Earlier, Baidhya and Badal were said to be at odds over unity with the UCPN-Maoist. Badal later organised a press conference and said there were no differences with Baidhya on the issue.
