At least 40 people sustained injuries when the office building of the district land survey office, Makwanpur, caught following an explosion on Wednesday, police said. Initial reports said police rushed to the scene and rescued three people, who were among those inside the Hetaunda-based building when the fire occurred.
Both service-seekers and office staffers were inside the building when the fire occurred.
Police and fire engines extinguished the fire later on.

It is suspected that electric short circuit caused the fire. Fire engines from Hetaunda municipality, Makwanpur district, had rushed to the scene to put out the fire.
This incident has left the people of Hetaunda municipality terrorised.
