Kathmandu, May 10
The budget session of the House of Representatives and National Assembly under the federal parliament is taking place from today onward. The budget session is commencing today after President Ramchandra Paudel, following Article 93 (1) of the Nepal Constitution, summoned the joint session of the federal parliament on May 2 on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
It may be noted that the federal parliamentary secretariat had already issued a notice requesting all members of the parliament to be present in the session called for 2 pm today at the New-Baneshwor-based International Conference Centre.
According to the constitutional provision, estimated details of income and expenditure (budget) for the upcoming year have to be presented in the parliament on May 28 (Jestha 15). Earlier to this, the President will read out the government’s annual policy and programme in the joint sitting of both the Houses. To run the session effectively, Speaker Devraj Ghimire had already held discussions with top leaders of major political parties represented in the parliament.
