Kathmandu, August 31
The deadline for fixing the number of local levels in the districts is expiring today. Despite prodding on the part of Local Level Restructuring Commission’s technical committees, only five out of 75 districts have submitted their reports on the number of local levels they want.
These committees have local development officers of respective districts as coordinators. As per the deadline, they should have submitted reports mentioning boundaries, names of local bodies, division of wards and determination of local administrative centres.
Earlier, the commission directed committees to submit reports within the end of Shrawan (mid-August). With parties at the local level failing to come to an agreement, the committees failed to complete the reports.
As parties failed to forge an understanding at the central level, the commission gave them 15 days more to submit the reports.
