Kathmandu, October 25
Karma Chhiring Sherpa, the losing candidate in the two-man race to become Nepal’s football governing body chief, has alleged that money was a factor in the election held on Monday.
Sherpa, however, says he accepts the result, and is ready to support his winning contender Narendra Shrestha, who won the election by a margin of five votes.
Sherpa, who was speaking to mediapersons after the result was announced, said, “I have been defeated, but my agenda should not lose.” He held that his agenda was for transparency in the sport’s governance and grass-root level development of football in the country.
